about

Glenn English is a writer/director based in New York City. He has an MA in dramatic theory and criticism from Hunter College and is a recipient of the John Golden Award. His work has been produced in Los Angeles, Manhattan and regionally. Glenn’s full length plays include The Sex Life of Waiters, Straw House and Chew. He is a founding member and partner of Mystik Films. Glenn was the creator and co-producer of the Sirens Festival, dedicated to the development and production of new works by women authors. He has been featured in Backstage, The Daily News and ETonline.

Glenn specializes in dark, acerbic comedies that concern themselves with the disenfranchised members of society, such as women, children and artists. Though comedic in nature, his work seeks to expose the darker underbelly of personal and societal angst that accompanies the lives of those abandoned by the American dream, and its inherent contradictions.

Though much of his work is stage-orientated, Glenn also has an interest in writing for the screen, both large and small. He has written a number of original screenplays and works regularly as a script doctor for both theater and film. Glenn is currently developing several projects for production in network and cable.
