Kapax: Heart of Water.
In 1977, Columbian environmentalist Alberto Rojas swims the 950 mile Magdalena River, to call attention to the worsening conditions of the Amazon region. The media campaign that explodes around Rojas and his harrowing journey, transforms him into “Kapax”, the Columbian Tarzan and a household name in South America. In spite of his ecological campaign, life in the Amazon begins to change as corporate interests and foreign governments key into the vast resources the region has to offer – minerals, pharmaceuticals and especially drinking water! As years pass, stakes rise. In 2006 George W. Bush buys 174, 000 acres in Paraguay and the vast Guarani Aquifer beneath it – making him the owner of the third largest body of drinking water on the planet. Facing overwhelming odds, Kapax steels himself for a final confrontation with the capitalist machine bent on his worlds’ destruction. Armed only with a camera, the aging Kapax embarks on a second life and death battle to save the Amazon - its water, its culture and its glory.
